Playback Theatre York was invited to perform the moments and stories of the visitors and members of Cafe 71 run by The Spider project in Chester.


Spider Project has been on the Wirral since 2007. We are a creative arts and wellbeing recovery community project. Getting involved at Spider helps you build self-belief, increase confidence and make new friends. If interested please get in touch through The Spider Project website.

York’s Dead Good Festival takes place each year in May, to coincide with Dying Matters Awareness Week, with the aim of encouraging people to be more open about dying, death and bereavement. Playback Theatre York was invited to deliver a one off performance of our stories of life, death and everything in between.

Playback Theatre York  has been performing stories from members of Converge for over a decade and carries on this tradition into the future.

Converge provides courses for adults who use mental health services including dance, music, choir singing, writing and art. In 2013 Converge received national recognition by being shortlisted in the Times Higher Education Awards.

Older Persons Project

When? As soon as safe to visit Care Homes


Playback Theatre York has been pledged a grant from York Common Good Trust to deliver performances to Care Homes in York. The delivery of the performances has been delayed due to the Covid - 19 pandemic but the company is ready to listen and enact the stories of Older People in their communities as soon as it's safe to do so.
